Sustainability is of utmost importance in modern day manufacturing. It not only enables creation of manufactured products through economically sound processes but also reduce negative impact on the environment.

Today’s manufacturing processes cannot continue in the same manner as it did in the past. Hence we at Awal Gulf Manufacturing are committed to developing our products that incorporates best in the class product features and has minimal impact on the environment.

One of our key goal is to reduce the carbon footprint and improved environmental performance at all our manufacturing locations. We believe ‘Climate Change is Real’ and therefore we as manufacturers of HVACR products have an active role to play.

Being one of the largest consumer of HCFC refrigerant, we took a proactive step a decade back to systematically phase down and freeze the usage of HCFC refrigerants as per the deadline set in accordance to the 2007 Montreal Protocol.

We embarked on a journey towards non- Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) & Low- Global Warming Potential (GWP) products in coordination with Supreme Council of Environment in Bahrain under the broad guidance of UNIDO & UNEP.

All our products qualify for Energy Efficiency Ratings and perform a notch above specified standards. HCFC phase down is implemented in an accelerated program and by 2025 we will be completely free of HCFC use which is way ahead of 2007 Montreal protocol mandate. Inverter & VRF series of products have been launched which gives greater efficiency & lesser consumption of valuable resources. We are currently exploring the use of green technology in coming up with our next generation of products.

In 2017 Awal Gulf Manufacturing successfully concluded the prototype trails for Green Refrigerants in the presence of Supreme Council of Bahrain & UNIDO representatives. The project was labeled as HPMP (HCFC Phase-Out Management Plan)

As tranche 2 of HPMP, Awal Gulf Manufacturing in 2018 accomplished the mile stone of manufacturing & submitting to UNIDO/UNEP Commercial & Residential Air Conditioner samples in R290/R32. The 3rd tranche of HPMP of converting existing HFC lines to Green gasses is currently under review with all the stake holders.

Awal Gulf is also an active member of PRAHA (Promoting low global warming potential Refrigerants for Air conditioning sectors in High Ambient temperature countries). This program also runs under the umbrella of UNIDO & UNEP. Prototypes using several green refrigerants from manufacturers around the globe were built & sent to UNIDO approved Laboratories in US for evaluating the refrigerant characteristics under different conditions for different applications. This will be basis of ascertaining the safety & ease of usage of these new refrigerants.
